Royal seal and investiture book collection of the joseon dynasty was created for royal sovereigns of Joseon from early of Joseon to very end of Joseon dynasty. (1392 ~ 1966, 570 years)
조선왕실 어보와 어책은 조선 초기부터 조선 말기까지 조선의 왕권을 위해 제작된 어보집입니다. (1392~1966, 570년간)
Joseon Dynasty was the country where the throne is hereditary. So Royal seal and investiture was kind of recognition which is granted to crown heir and queen from the king.
조선은 왕위가 세습되는 나라였습니다. 그래서 왕실 도장과 관직은 왕으로부터 왕위 계승자와 왕비에게 주어지는 일종의 인정이었습니다.
The books that the King and Queen had received throughout their lives were enshrined in Jongmyo Shrine with the tablet of the king and queen. It symbolizes the lasting power of the kingdom and guaranteed their prestige even after death.
왕과 왕비가 일생 동안 받아온 책들은 왕과 왕비의 위패와 함께 종묘에 모셔졌습니다. 이것의 의미는 왕권의 지속적인 힘을 상징하고 사후에도 그들의 위신을 보장하는 것이었습니다.
Although The royal seal and investiture books was made for succession to the throne, At present they are valuable asset to study Politics, economy, Society, culture and so on of Joseon dynasty.
옥새와 어책은 비록 왕위 계승을 위해 만들어졌지만, 현재는 조선의 정치, 경제, 사회, 문화 등을 연구하는 데 귀중한 자료로 쓰이고 있습니다.
So they are in list of memory of the world desiganted by UNESCO.

왕세자나 왕세손에 책봉되면 그 징표로 국왕에게서 옥인(玉印), 죽책(竹冊), 교명(敎命)을 받음으로써 왕권의 계승자로서 정통성을 인정받았다
